Perry is 'One of the Boys' through debut

The hilarous ditigal song, "Ur So Gay" has made 23-year-old Katy Perry a sensation on the web (most notably by YouTube) and has gone as far as having a fan in the Queen of Pop herself, Madonna.

Now that song, and 11 other tracks are for fans to listen to from Perry's debut One of the Boys (Capitol Records). The songs are confessional and full of rock music; music like the personality of Alanis Morisette.

1. One Of The Boys 4:07
2. I Kissed A Girl 2:59
3. Waking Up In Vegas 3:19
4. Thinking Of You 4:06
5. Mannequin 3:17
6. Ur So Gay 3:37
7. Hot N Cold 3:40
8. If You Can Afford Me 3:18
9. Lost 4:16
10. Self Inflicted 3:25
11. I'm Still Breathing 3:48
12. Fingerprints

Within the songs, there are tunes about previous relationships, going to road trips. But rock songs are not the only thing there are also ballads. Perry is able to transcend from one song to the other.

She is able to make the audience feel what she is feeling that is that sense of abandonment yet, strike back with feminist girl power; for any guy that is something that one must be able to see.

She took a page out of Morissette's playbook, that being Morissette's Jagged Little Pill (Maverick Records) debut in 1995. And like both artist confessional songs sell. Perry's record has that feel, but with the album being as good as it is, it will not be a big seller as Morissette's.

Rating: 4 out of 5
