Goldfrapp's 'A&E' is a ballad

Lead singer Allison Goldfrapp turns into a crooner with the Goldfrapp's latest single, A&E from the current album The Seventh Tree (Special Editon) (U.S. Mute). However, I do think that the lyrics are to short for a this song. That is my only complaint of this song.

There is no attempt to extend it to a more appealing circumstance. There should have been more thought into the lyrics of the song. But not to take away anything that Goldfrapp, (much like Gwen Stefani, front woman of No Doubt) she can hold her own.

It's a blue, bright blue Saturday, hey hey
And the pain is starting to slip away, hey hey

I'm in a backless dress on a pastel ward that's shining
Think I wan't you still
But there may be pills at work

Do you really wanna know how I was dancing on the floor?
I was trying to phone you when I'm crawling out the door
I'm amazed at you, the things you say that you don't do
Why don't you wreck?

I was feeling lonely, feeling blue
Feeling like I needed you
Like I'm walking up surrounded by me

A&E

How she holds her own is evident in the song, "Ohh, La, La" but again the lyrics work because the music accompaniment is insync.

Upcoming CD Reviews

Michael Jackson sister Janet has released a new album...(cover, good, different) is this the return to the music that made her even more famous? And just curious as to why Michael himself doesn't release new material again...Ms. Jackson fans get ready, this is coming soon...

Everyone is going "Ga-Ga" over Miley Cryus the 15-year-old star and daughter of Billy Ray Cyrus. The Hannah Montana film is currently a No. 1 hit with girls and teens...that it has extended its showing of the film in Hollywood. The CD will be release soon...my review of Cryus and Montana is coming...

Happy Valentine's Day everyone!

A pile of Greatest Hits from Morrissey

Every artist brings out its Greatest Hits package and yet, (and not limited to Madonna) I happen to like Britian own Morrissey too. For all that has been said about him (and) his sexuality and not, there has always been a focus to those who are artists: music, poetry and words.

The former The Smiths frontman take of 1988-to-present is a bucket load of songs that make Morrissey a man who is continually wants you to think and more.

Limited edition two CD International pressing of the 2008 collection from the former Smiths frontman features a bonus disc entitled Live At The Hollywood Bowl, which contains eight tracks recorded live in California on June 8 2007.

Greatest Hits spans Morrissey’s stellar 20-year career as a true original, and one of the UK’s greatest musical talents. Every song on Greatest Hits is a UK Top 20 single. Nine of these are Top 10 hits. Two new songs are included ('That’s How People Grow Up' and 'All You Need Is Me'), both recorded with Jerry Finn, producer of 2004’s widely acclaimed You Are The Quarry album.

It has taken a long time for the B-52s to return with new material. Where has the quartet been? Doesn't matter, but this album will be return within the next two months. Can't wait.

The Counting Crows have returned as well. New album, means new music, director, and sound.

The electronic maven has returned...

Can't wait...for all of these and Madonna too on April 29.

Crow tries to 'Detour' on album

Detours (A&M Records) may not seem like much of a detour to Sheryl Crow fans. Her politics pour out of these songs the way you might expect them to if you caught wind of a epic cross-country bus trip, in more ways than one.

1. God Bless This Mess 2:09
2. Shine Over Babylon 4:02
3. Love Is Free 3:22
4. Peace Be Upon Us 4:22
5. Gasoline 5:07
6. Out Of Our Heads 4:27
7. Detours 3:29
8. Now That You're Gone 3:51
9. Drunk With The Thought Of You 2:39
10. Diamond Ring 4:10
11. Motivation 3:47
12. Make It Go Away (Radiation Song) 3:23
13. Love Is All There Is 4:01
14. Lullaby For Wyatt 4:08

From the quiet, faraway-sounding opener "God Bless This Mess"--a novel in a song--to the catchy but thought-provoking "Gasoline," it's clear that Crow has more on her mind these days than soaking up the sun or having a little fun, à la the Tuesday Night Music Club era.

Yet there's not a groan-worthy song on this standout rock/pop/folk/blues album. If the themes are heavy (in addition to the political songs, there's an almost painfully tender lullaby for her son Wyatt and one, "Make It Go Away [Radiation Song]," that touches on her breast-cancer experience), the mood is cathartic, determined, hopeful at times and sad at others.

"Now That You're Gone" grabs at clarity through the clouds of a devastating love affair and gets it, and "Peace Be Upon Us" picks apart pettiness and arrives at a wide-minded beauty.
